Advice I wish I'd known soonerCourtside ConversationsGeneral

I need badminton friends

I realised a long time ago that I have some great badminton friends
I also realised that I needed more
I’m always on the lookout for new contacts šŸ™‚

My friends help me when my thinking is stuck or uncertain.Ā  They also help with inspiration when I feel flat.

Best of all my badminton friends offer advice and a viewpoint!Ā  When needed it can be a pointed alternative one !!!

My friends are the cornerstone of why I love badminton and especially coaching

Do you find it easy or difficult to make good badminton friends?

When researchers interviewed adults about making friends in a recent study, the most important challenge cited was a lack of trust.Ā  That is, people found it harder to put their trust in someone new and fully invest in them as a friend compared to when they were younger.

Having trust in your badminton friends is vital

Trust that they will always have your best interests at heart, even when they offer challenging advice or viewpoints

Trust that they will continually be improving their knowledge so that when you speak again there is always a possibility of finding new things to consider

Trust that the time between conversations is not judged.Ā  A good friend will always reply once they have time or thoughts to help you.

Do you trust them enough to have open and honest conversations?

When was the last time you developed a new badminton friendship?

Do you collaborate enough?

Do you collaborateThis is a plea to all Badminton Coaches and Badminton Parents.Ā  Please take a moment this week and engage with another Coach or Parent, share a thought or ask a question

It seems simple and easy to do?

My issue is that I donā€™t think enough of you are actually talking with others.Ā Certainly not with the aim of developing and exploring ideas.

This is part of a mini-series looking at Collaboration, why itā€™s important, why you may not do it, and also how to be better at it
