Shuttletime, Level 1, Level 2, Level 3. Level 3 is new, and availability varies
2. They provide videos
The videos are probably the best part of the resources ShuttleTime Level 1 Level 2
3. Start with Shuttletime
You don’t need any coaching or teaching experience to attend a Shuttletime course
4. You can also start at Level 1
You can go straight onto BWF L1, you don’t need to have a Shuttletime award (check with your Country)
5. Level 1 Online component
You can complete part of Level 1 online. before attending a course. A certificate is provided. Often it’s a requirement before attending the course (click here to access it)
6. All the resources are online and free to download

7. Cost
The charge for each course can vary as they are set by the Country hosting the course
8. Duration of courses
The length of each course can vary – weekend or week courses are popular, again decided by the country. BWF set the number of hours.
9. BEC Summer School
Most years Badminton Europe run a BWFL2 course at European Summer School Camp, its an intensive 5 days
10. Level 1 focuses on group coaching
The level 1 certificate focuses on group work and lesson planning. There is no focus on how to deliver an individual lesson.
11. Level 2 includes annual planning
Alongside more complex (advanced strokes ) the Level 2 requires the coach to produce an annual plan for a player. This contains a tournament structure, weekly training goals, session intensity and duration, plus goals and testing.
12. What happens if you fail
This is changing. Depending on the reason for failure, some Countries will allow either a retake of the asessmnet or you may have to retake the whole course. Check with your organiser.
13. Multishuttle
There is very little information either in the manuals or on the courses regarding the use of multi-shuttle training.
14. It is recognised Worldwide
Nearly all countries that are members of the BWF recognise the awards when advertising coaching jobs.
15. Languages
The coach education materials have been translated into over 5 languages, with more to come.
16. Shuttletime mobile app
The Shuttletime app is available for both IOS and the Google Play Store. Download it now.
17. You will need to think
All courses require you to use the rescources but primarily the Tutors will require you to think about How to Coach as much as What to Coach. Level 2 and 3 require lots more independent thinking and justification.
18. They target ‘Performance.’
Level 1 and especially Levels 2, 3 focus on improving players in competition.
19. Shuttletime is targeted at participation
Shuttletime was originally designed as a tool for school teachers working in educational situations. Recently mnay countries have also used Shuttletime in clubs for beginner sessions.
20. Tutors will challenge!
You will be asked some tough questions by the tutors, and you will be expected to justify the sessions that you design.
